Tricycle fare rollback proposed in Quezon City PDF Print E-mail

A proposal to cut back tricycle fares in Quezon City has been placed before the city council. The proposed ordinance, authored by Councilor Butch Allan Francisco, seeks to amend City Ordinance No. SP-1850, S-2008, which increased tricycle fares from P6.00 to P7.00 per person for regular trips, from P12.00 to P13.00 for special trips, and an increase of P1.00 for every kilometer in excess thereafter.

Quezon City has renamed a major thoroughfare, after Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr.  signed into law an ordinance renaming the portion of 11th Jamboree Street from Timog Avenue to EDSA GMA Drive, after the television giant, GMA Network.

Quezon City barangay personnel will soon be deputized to apprehend litterbugs. According to Quezon City’s Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department (EPWMD) Chief Frederika Rentoy, the plan to deputize barangay personnel as environment police is aimed at strengthening the capability of the barangay to enforce the city’s environmental ordinances, saying, “This program will complement the department’s campaign on cleanliness and waste reduction.”
