The Pinyasan Festival, one of Daet’s most famous annual events, is held every year to showcase its prime agricultural product, the sweet Queen Formosa pineapple. This year sees “Pinyasan ‘09” kick off from June 15 to 24, 2009. Every year, the people of Daet, together with various communities, organizations, and government officials, gather to commemorate its pineapples and celebrate the pineapple farmers. This year’s Pinyasan Festival will be extra special for two major reasons: The people of Daet will attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by trying to assemble the longest pineapple chain. Also, for the first time in its history, the festival will now have an Internet presence with the launch of its official website. A MOA signing was done between Mr. Resti Reyes, President of MediaTrade Exchange, Inc., Tito Sarte Sarion, Municipal Mayor of Daet, Camarines Norte, and Liwayway Vinzons-Chato, Congressional Representative of the Lone District of Camarines Norte, to further strengthen their partnership at the recent press conference held at Cucina Victoria, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City. The conference also marked the launching of the official website of the 17th Pinyasan Festival, located online at http://www.mediatrade.com.ph/daet. The official website will be filled with information on the history of the Pinyasan Festival, news, event schedules, photos and more. Ms. Bing Pimentel, a celebrity and a Daet resident, hosted the event. Mayor Sarion and Congresswoman Vinzons-Chato gave a brief background and invited all the guests to take part in the celebration of the Pinyasan Festival. Vicky Pimentel, owner of Cucina Victoria at the Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, poses with the Certificate of Appreciation awarded by the Municipality of Daet for the use of her restaurant as the venue of the press conference for the Pinyasan Festival. As the guests were enjoying their freshly-made pineapple shakes, Congresswoman Vinzons-Chato promised that everyone attending the Pinyasan Festival will get to taste the most unique local products of Daet, many made from its famous pineapples. |
