Rotary International District 3780 (Quezon City) recently held its District Assembly for 2009 at the Quezon City Sports Club. The Rotary Club of Cubao Central, led by its president Manuel Cabarroguis, hosted the event. The whole-day affair was attended by over 500 Rotarians from all over QC. Discussions were held for the Rotary International theme, the Presidential Areas of Emphasis for service projects, and the district’s goals for the year.
District Assemblies are held to help prepare Rotarian leaders for their term of office; in this case, for the Rotary Year 2009-2010. These assemblies have the aim of building a better world through strong and effective Rotary Clubs, and are the main venues for providing intensive learning programs to train and hone the leadership skills of the incoming Rotarian officers.
In a message delivered at the assembly, incoming District Governor Dulce Coyukiat emphasized that leading people who are already the best in their respective fields is one of the greatest challenges that a leader can face. Therefore, she said, a Rotary Club leader must be fully prepared to meet this challenge and ensure the success of the Club and the Rotary Movement. The leader must have the spirit of teamwork that inspires people to work together toward common dreams and goals.
She concluded by saying that the District Assembly provides a fitting program where Club leaders converge to appreciate their roles in the overall movement. |
